The Company

NYCycles is a for-profit organization committed to establishing a bike-share program spanning all five boroughs in New York City. The program would be comprised of a network of electronically operated and centrally monitored pick-up and drop-off bicycle rack units whereby anyone capable of safely riding a bicycle can simply swipe a credit card or pre-subscribed access card to commence ad hoc rental of a NYCycles bicycle. In this way, a person can cycle to any destination using any route they choose and then return the bike to any number of NYCycles' bicycle racks, which would be stationed at convenient points throughout the City selected on the basis of rack-system availability, popularity of destination location, and the existence of important business or tourism foci (e.g., Lincoln Center) in the immediate area. Bicycle racks would additionally be strategically placed in those locations with historically limited points of access to the subway or bus systems, such as the East Village.
